Owen and I took a week trip to Trail to visit with Gramps, GrandMo and the rest of Darren's family. We had such a nice time and Owen was so happy to live like a Canadian again for a week! I swear his hair grew two inches and his belly by 5 pounds. We got a chance to visit with all his family (Aunty Sue, Uncle Rick, Dave, Scott, Aunty Deb, Uncle Gary, Ryan, Sarah, Nana and Uncle Dave). Owen went to his first hockey game (Ryan's - and they won!), got spoiled and rocked to sleep too many times by GrandMo, watched a few hours of CNN with Gramps and ate at Colander for the first time. All in all we had a wonderful time and thank you to Gramps and GrandMo for their love and hospitality. Can't wait to do it again - next time we are bringing Dad along. We missed him too much!

11 month update!
Wow, we have had a lot of changes! We had a wonderful first Christmas and Owen was somewhat a good boy! He was in a salty mood in the morning and would allow me to open his presents, look at it and then start crying. So that was fun. Later on in the afternoon, my family came over for Christmas brunch at our place. Owen was in a much better mood and was very happy to get all of his nice presents! He loved the plastic bowls from Gram-Mo and Gramps (easy kid to please) and the set with 50 plastic balls from his cousins Ashley and Jenna. He loves to scoot the balls across the floor and roll them under the couch. He will then squat down to look for the missing ball with his butt in the air. It is quite comical!
He has taken his first steps on January 2, 2009. Since then he has gotten better at the whole walking thing. Now we don't have full blown walking as of yet but I do see it in the kids near future. Check out the video below we captured his first steps. Darren says I ruin the moment by always breaking out the video recorder, but not so much since now we have actual video on our child's first steps. See, so I am not so annoying now am I?:) Along with the taking of steps comes the bumping of the head. As of today, Owen has three bruises on his forehead. I mean, the kid falls into anything and everything. It is a constant cringe when he starts to wobble, which is a lot. How do parents get thru this time? :)
Take a look at the video below that showcases Owen working business deals on his phone from Aunty Lauren. It is too funny. He pretty much has taken on the fact that every toy he currently has is a phone. I was doing the laundry this afternoon and was folding the clothes. Now Owen LOVES when I do laundry because he like to pull all the clothes out of the basket and ransack all the folded piles of clothes. I caught him stealing Darren's folded socks and pretended that they were phones and held it to his ear and proceeded to carrying on a conversation with them. It starts with a very clear "Hello" and then he goes on a tangent with a bunch of made up baby gibberish. He still have an obsession with our cell phones. I give him mine and he actually figures out to make calls, somehow he always ends up calling my mom. She answers the phone and says hello to him and he gets the biggest kick out of it.
Owen is eating a lot more foods. Aunty Mi-Mi purchased a new heavy duty blender and has been whipping up some crazy concoctions that Owen has come to like. Last night he had a lovely mixture of beets, broccoli, kale, apple, blueberry and pear. Sounds rather disgusting but it actually was not so bad. And hey he is getting his daily supply of fresh fruits and vegetables. So keep it up Mi-Mi. I am sure he likes it better then the mixture of cottage cheese, applesauce and sweet potatoes that I have given him! Though beets are really not our friend as you can tell by the above picture - they kind of make a mess every time!
We can't believe that our little guy will almost be 1 year old. So crazy how time flies. Thank you for always reading up on his to-do's. I enjoy writing them and sharing all of his milestones with you. We love and miss you all very much!
